Technology

Production of light guiding parts, lenses, light diffusers, optical domes, and prisms requires sophisticated machining equipment and know-how. In addition, very high polishing technology is being used.

Bending

Plastic Bending is a thermal process utilized to shape products. In this process, mostly heat (but for some designs also cold bending) is being used in order to shape the part into its desired geometry. This method is most suitable for products made from Polycarbonate (PC), Acrylic (PMMA), PVC, and PETG. With our expertise with bending plastics, we are able to bend and maintain their transparency, including with PC, which is not a common practice.

In Scopustech, the bending is being done via electronically controlled heaters, enabling maximum accuracy, while considering also small radii products. For Larger radii products, we produce complying tooling in our CNC production facility, which is being inserted into designated temperature-controlled ovens.

Which raw materials are suitable for these technologies:

Among the materials we are able to bend are:

  • PMMA, commonly also known as “Perspex” and “Plexiglass”
  • Polycarbonate (PC) also known as Lexan
  • PETG
  • PVC

Thermal Treatment

For high performance, durability, and precise accuracy we perform thermal treatment on a wide variety of polymers.

Structural Gluing (bonding)

Is the Strongest Glue also the best matching one?

Not necessarily.

Choosing the right adhesive for structural bonding / gluing has a critical impact on several factors.

Its composition and bonding strength between the materials is considerable.

Among the types of glues used for plastics are Cyanoacrylates, UV curable glues, MMA, Epoxy, and more.

If Polyolefin materials (like PE or PP) are needed to be glued, there is a need to use a primer.

Scopustech accumulated vast experience with optical bonding and structural gluing, matching the best-suited glue per material and application.

Laser cutting, Etching and Engraving

Designated laser machines provide exceptional accuracy and additional values, making them optimal tooling for cutting, etching and engraving.

With such machinery, production stages are saved and one-step production can be achieved with high quality and accuracy. Alongside, there this brings a benefit with regards to the environment.

In addition, the laser engraving markings omits the need to use ink or chemical materials, contributing to a greener environment.

In contrary to CNC or manual other related cutting processes, with laser cutting small and large parts can be cut with minimal wastage.

Laser Fabrication with plastic delivers several advantages:

  • Fast and accurate fabrication
  • High quality and specialty outputs with the possibility to fabricate complex graphics
  • Can be utilized with different plastic materials
  • Environmentally friendly omitting the necessity of using inks/chemicals, lowering electricity consumption

Note: Different plastic materials react differently to laser fabrication

Scopustech’s expertise with the fabrication of a variety of plastic materials with the advanced laser machinery we hold in-house enables our customers to achieve accurate products with high-resolution finishes and curl edging, per demand.

Polishing

Plastic has major advantages over other materials such as glass or quartz. It is lighter, resistant to heat (differs between materials), and is workable for polishing, just as the traditional materials are.

The Polishing technology in Scopustech brings out the plastic to be glary and highly optical, contributing to the product’s aesthetics as well as to its functionality.

The unique solution we can provide combining thermic treatment along with polishing ensures not only the good-looking surface finish but also the long-term stability and lasting of the product minimizing its stress.

Furthermore, our polishing technology enables functional product solutions, such as bringing back to life old products with scratched surfaces finish to newly glossed ones.

If transparency and surface finish is important to you, we definitely can provide you with corresponding solutions.

Optical Injection Molding

Producing optical molds is a unique niche market in mold fabrication.

Optical surfaces require many hours of polishing with dedicated equipment.

Similarly, producing optical injection molds requires expertise from the product design through the tooling development stages to the final part injection. In addition, special quality control equipment is necessary, and not many companies are able to provide such a dedicated solution.

The high surface accuracy requires very tight tolerances which can be accomplished only by many years of experience and know-how along with the required equipment and production and quality control measures.

As a boutique manufacturer, we upgrade our technologies and equipment to enable our customers cutting-edge technology and quality.

How can we help your project?
